"The voices of my Native American ancestors speak to you through my music. It is the gateway for the souls of past times.” - Leo Rojas
Leo Rojas, known as a musician and pan flute player, hails from Ecuador and belongs to the indigenous Kichwa (also Quechua) people. The Kichwa are part of the larger indigenous population of the Andes, a group that spans multiple South American countries and holds a rich cultural tradition.
In Ecuador's Andean regions, the Kichwa live in harmony with nature, following ancient traditions that reflect their connection to the earth, mountains, and natural elements. Music plays a significant role in Kichwa culture: with traditional instruments like the pan flute, drums, and the charango—a small Andean guitar—they tell stories of their ancestors, the beauty of nature, and the spirituality that runs deep within their community.
Leo Rojas grew up with these traditions, inheriting his love for music from his culture and ancestors. He gained international fame when he was living in Germany and won the talent show Das Supertalent in 2011. Since then, he has inspired people worldwide with his pan flute music, capturing the sounds and spiritual essence of his heritage.
Rojas sees his music as a gift from his people to the world, meant to share the beauty and wisdom of indigenous culture and to bring a touch of Andean magic to the hearts of listeners everywhere.
